If you believe that your success depends on your immigration process - whether it's the ability to file I-485 earlier or to get green-card and citizenship sooner or whether it's the ability of your spouse to work - then you have to believe that your success somehow depends on the success of Immigration voice and these 170 volunteers in DC next week.
As you may know, we are just one more week away from hosting Advocacy day in Washington DC where about 170 members of Immigration Voice will conduct nearly 250 meetings with offices of Senators and Congressmen. Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.

If you look at the ICE's public releases you will see they start investigating a case months before they announce their conclusions. I know in some cases the employers will be able to get away with small fines but we should not let this stop us.
I agree. There haas to be a start. Like how Obama has promised he will make corporate CEOs accountable for the mess they create and move on, we must also jump start the community towards cleansing the system.
The CEO level corruption, if held accountable, we will see less of layoffs etc.. and we can see the good old days permanant jobs that are "really" permanant

Second level I/O ->Trick is to first call the USCIS customer service and talk to the first level I/O. Once he/she has given you the information on the case (same as what you see online), try to convince him/her to transfer you to second level I/O. It has always worked for me ... just need to show a bit of emotion and tell them how you've been stuck for so long.
Congressman -> Talk to your congressman's staff and figure out the best way to get an immigration inquiry. In my case, they had a immigration privacy release form available online and I just filled the form, signed and faxed it.

It is important to know that despite of severe visa retrogression and random visa cutoff date movements, USICIS or DOS hasn�t released any official information on how many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS under various categories which leaves thousands of AOS(Adjustment of Status) applicants in complete darkness and dependent on guessing games by various Law firms.
A green card application requires enormous amount of efforts and money from the beneficiary and his/her employer. People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there�s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.
We have been waiting for a decade and continue to wait would it be reasonable to request you for some guidance with regards to the Visa allotment. I request your office to provide some statistics on home many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS.
We understand that you work with in the limits of the law as set by the Congress and are limited by various constraints that are beyond your agency realm of work. We appreciate your hard work and sincerely thank you for all the hard work.

Since I joined IV this thing defintely changed...& I feel that I am attached to a community trying to achieve a common goal and common good. Everybody is trying to survive in this world ..diff people react differently to same situation..lying on resume/achievements is not illegal(reason y no body is prosecuted because of this fact..they are simply denied that benefit) however its unethical ..but iam not here to preach ethics.
A fictional scenario to check whether you are ready to take advantage of a loop hole if its in your favour.( A nice quote on this -Everybody likes discrimination when its in their favour and they dont raise their voice then)
My point to say all companies lie/manipulate things to certain extent..desi consultants atleast dont deprive lives like other BIG companies where shareholders are kept in dark until they realize that company is no more worth anything.
Iam not supporting any malpractises are anything anyways this is not a criminal thing its just immoral ..however if theres a loop hole and people want to chance it its upto them. They will be appropriately denied if they are caught, However its not like they are killing anybody.
Finally what do you think when even govt is planning to make illegals legals ..its respecting peoples wishes against legal things(ofcourse they get benifitted)Humanity/compassion is number one..rules are for our well being ..they are not hard and fast. I suppose it would help if IV core team would discuss with members about their target contribution and percentage of goal already met. i know it might not be possible to give out the exact numbers but we can always have a percentage % on the site showing how much more is needed. This will also energize active and non active members and give them something definite to work towards..

Again today there is an LUD (10/15/2007) on the below quoted H1B petition. What is going? The status remains approval notice sent, however.
This may not be related to this issues but I saw an update of 09/25/2007 on my H1 case with a previous employer whom I left in 2004. This case was approved in 2003.
