Only questions I have now are:
1. Any idea generally how long these things can go on?
2. During the trial will there be any restrictions on leaving the country (In genuine emergency situations)?
3. In the worst case if I am willing to give-up my GC..would it still make sense for us(my spouse and 2 kids) to go thru all this emotional stress all over again by staying here and thinkign about what will happen tomorrow...?

Thanks ak27... based on your suggestion, I have started enquiry on my case through congressman.
I also talked to second level I/O and she told me that it may be due to pending biometrics (what a relief to hear that). She didn't give me any other details so still not sure what's going (no SLUDs yet). I haven't recd any finger print notice since my first one in sep'07 so that kind of makes sense.
I had a infopass appointment today, IO informed me that my fp expired so that may be the reason for not approving I-485. He told me that my application had some activity on July 29. For example, if a law is passed to return to us all the taxes that we have paid but we must leave ASAP, how many will be in its favor?
I don't think this kind of an argument will hold any water with the press or lawmakers. There are other good VALID arguments, and we should stick to them.

LOL, I know. I really regret that I wasn't on these forums years ago, I wouldn't have done so many mistakes. I was thinking "what all these dudes on these forums know? I got a big lawyer with tie and bunch of certificates as best of the best of the best." The life taught me totally opposite.
Except IV all the other forums are in lawyer's websites. So without lawyers we won't get lot of useful info either. But I do see lot of activites in IV forums related to green card than others which is good we are growing on our own :D

So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do. bought AIG insurance..twice, my dad had severe hand pain and could not take him to a doctor, cos, the docs wont accept visitors medical insurance without a cash deposit. then i tried to get pre-certification from AIG, for which they would not give it, so its a catch 22...so screw it, even if ur parents fall sick, all of a sudden when they are in the US, take them to the emergency, there is no system in place for medical insurance for visitors, every other insurance is a scam..so dont even have any hopes..just do what u need to do..there are lots of times, this country does not allow us to live more than 6 years being on h1 without a freakin green card, we have paid lots and lots of taxes which we will never claim..so, this is how they repay.

After 6 yrs on H1 with pending AOS, if 485 gets denied, H1 is not renewd. So far so good....
I am under impression that aftet the denial, person still has whatever time left on his H1 to stay and work till H1 expires. No futher extension will be possible due to denial.
Is above statement wrong????
I had checked with my attorney, he had mentioned that I could keep on working till my H1 expired.... I will recheck with him.

It is really frustrating that some people instead of volunturing for effort tries to find loop hole or excueses in the IV's efforts. If you can not volunteer atleast support those who are doing that with lots of energy and determination for our cause.
Utlimately at a one day WILL WILL FIND A WAY.
If we are willing to help ourselves than only this thing will happen.
So keep faith in IV core and its efforts and be supportive to their efforts whenever you can.
